Posted by Kim Cantrell on October 18, 2012

How well do you know your famous (and not so much) Georgia crime scenes. Let’s find out! And when you’re done, leave a comment and share your score with others.

North Georgia

* On April 26, 1913, thirteen year-old Mary Phagan was (possibly) raped and murdered, her body discovered the next day in the cellar of the old National Pencil Factory in Atlanta, Georgia. Her boss, a Jewish man, was convicted on the testimony of a black man - quite a rarity of the times. Two years later, his death sentence was commuted to life which spurred a lynching on August 17, 1915. In March 1986, this man was granted a posthumous pardon of his crimes. Who was this New York native?

* On May 2, 1953, a disgruntled former client walked into the office of attorney Marion Ennis in the Milledgeville, Georgia, Campus Theater building and shot him then went around the corner and shot another attorney named Peter Bivins in his office. it is said this well-known loanshark believed both attorneys were working to have him criminally prosecuted on tax evasion charges. Who was this man?

* May 1981. In an effort to catch an Atlanta-area child serial killer, police were staked out below this bridge when they heard a splash and gave chase to a man later identified as William Bertram Williams, a local music producer and manager suspected in the deaths of several teenagers. What is the name of the bridge from which Williams dropped the body of his final victim?

* On December 4, 2004, neighbors of the house at 4515 Bogan Gates Drive in Buford, Georgia, awoke to the screams of emergency sirens. They soon learned their neighbor had committed suicide. Just as their shock subsided, they would be stunned by the news that she had not committed suicide but had been murdered by her husband, a well respected area dentist - and it wasn\'t the first time he was suspect of murder. Who was the couple of who resided at this Atlanta suburb home?

* On June 7, 2012, fire erupted on mourners as they exited the funeral of 19 year-old Ryan Devon Guider at this Stone Mountain, Georgia Church.

Show answer
