Summary:

Sometimes there is nothing to do but laugh and Ty Treadwell does an awesome job of making you do just that.

True crime is a serious genre, full of stories about lives that ended too soon, injustice, evil, and a multitude of emotions and actions which seem to zap any joy out of an otherwise beautiful world.

Death Rows Oddest Inmates by Ty TreadwellSometimes you just have to laugh. It’s all you can do. And believe it or not, there’s actually some pretty funny stuff happening on the dreariest of places: death row.

Georgia author Ty Treadwell shocked and amazed us with the tales of some pretty fantastic final meal orders in his book Last Suppers: Famous Meals from Death Row and now he induces gut-busting laughter with his newest release Death Row’s Oddest Inmates.

I don’t think I’ve laughed this hard in a long time. Treadwell has a unique way of taking a sad story about a murder over Kool-Aid and turning it into finger-pointing and snickering at the killer who became known as “Bonzai Bob” and whacked out stories of how every day items become unconventional murder weapons.

I’m not going to tell you more than this because, quite frankly, you’ve got to read it to believe it. With only 57 pages, Death Row’s Oddest Inmates is a quick yet hilarious read that’ll leave you in stitches.

And I’d much rather laugh til I cry any day over just plain ol’ crying because something is sad. Wouldn’t you?
